I never want my clients to get that feeling from working with my organization."
Julie Murphy Casserly's financial philosophy plays a big part in her commitment to client service.
“People can only stick with a plan if they face the emotions behind it,” says Julie, founder and President of JMC Wealth Management. “It’s easy for a financial advisor to say, ‘Here’s the income, here’s the assets, here’s the category you fit into.’ I take the time to understand their personal needs, as well as their financial needs.”
Growing up with 11 brothers and sisters, Julie quickly learned that, even if people look like they fit a certain mold, they often have very different attitudes and needs.
“I learned to deal with different personalities because I was forced to,” she says. “It gave me listening skills. It made me sensitive to what people need.”
Julie, a Certified Financial Planner® professional, graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1995 with a degree in finance and received her MBA from the University of Notre Dame du lac.
After graduating, Julie sold mutual funds, insurance and annuities for a national financial services firm, but she knew she wanted to own her own company, where she could spend more time getting to know her clients.
“You don’t build wealth by selling a particular line of products,” she says. “You build wealth by helping your clients build and preserve their wealth.”
In 2000, Julie started her own firm, then called D.C. Financial. The company has grown since then, expanding both its staff and its client base, but Julie has maintained the same commitment to service that makes JMC Wealth Management unique.
“I treat our clients’ money like it was my own,” she says. “The key is remembering that it’s a human being on the other side of the table.”
